Lenovo – one of China’s most prominent smartphone manufacturers – attended Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month, and during the event the company took the veil off a couple of new handsets as part of the “Vibe” lineup, namely the Lenovo Vibe K5 and Vibe K5 Plus. The latter recently went on sale on the virtual shelves of Flipkart, along with a price tag of Rs. 8,499, which translates to roughly US$127 at today’s conversion rate.
Being part of the Vibe series, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus finds itself in the upper mid-range market segment. The smartphone is equipped with a 5-inch IPS display featuring a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and draws processing power from a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC, sporting four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.2 GHz, and four additional Cortex-A53 cores operating at frequencies of up to 1.5 GHz. The package also includes an Adreno 405 graphics chip, 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage. Should this not be enough, users have the option to bump the storage externally through a microSD card by up to an additional 128 GB. In the camera department, the terminal flaunts a 13-megapixel (5P lenses) unit with an f/2.2 aperture and 1080p video recording capabilities, as well as a 5 MP front-facing sensor (4P lenses) with an f/2.8 aperture. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Lenovo’s proprietary user interface on top, has 4G LTE connectivity along with Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/, and all the components rely on a 2,750 mAh battery to keep them going. Overall, the smartphone measures 142 x 71 x 8.2 mm, and weighs 142 grams. Although the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus has been treated with three color options, Flipkart offers only the Platinum Silver and Champagne Gold flavors at the time of writing, with Graphite Gray being left out. Either way, the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus offers good value for money at the price of Rs. 8,499 (US$127), and Flipkart sweetens the deal even further by allowing prospective customers to trade in their older device and obtain a price cut for the Vibe K5 Plus, down to Rs. 2,499 (US$37).
